About the event
Purchase Rules of Estrangement
Join me for our inaugural four-part Book Club study group through May on Sunday evenings at 6 pm
MTN. I hope we can laugh, maybe shed a tear or two, have hard conversations, and experience surprising
revelations during our discussions. Members share only what they are comfortable sharing and interact
respectfully - without judgment. Meetings are not recorded, and seating is limited to ensure all members can
participate. During our time together, we explore each book as it relates to us in our individual circumstances.
This study group aims to understand our adult childs' perspective better, how we can repair to repair, and
perhaps gain insight into how we can move forward. The criteria for book selection and focus of reading
content include:
- Self Acceptance
- Self-Reflection, Acceptance and Growth
- Communication Style and Skills
- Relational Conflict Management
- Setting and Respecting Healthy Boundaries
- Repair, Reconciliation and Moving Forward
Now being totally upfront… this Book Club is not about quick-fix strategies. When people are tempted to
move into blame, shame or judgment, I will guide you back into a constructive conversation for learning and
growth. Discussions are grounded in the When Our Adult Children Walk Away values and beliefs. Please read
through both links before registering.
We encourage people to come to our meetings with open hearts and minds. Brene Brown says, "Vulnerability
is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change." Join me as we dig in and prepare to repair!
Rules of Estrangement is Josh's fifth book offering insights and encouragement for people experiencing relational conflict. Josh also authored When Parents Hurt: Compassionate Strategies When You and Your Grown Child Don't Get Along, published in 2008. Both
books provide excellent insights into how and why adult children choose to walk away.
