About the event
Join me Tuesday evenings in September at 5:00PM MDT time.
We will dig into this amazingly insightful, research-based book together.
Our discussion will focus on understanding why adult children frequently choose to cut ties with parents and other family members. We'll discuss various research findings to learn more about how our unique family circumstances may have contributed to our situation. And we'll consider ways we might change our circumstances moving forward. In the end, we'll consider how we can find our way out of the darkness, whether we reconnect or not, to find new purpose, peace and community.
Members share only what they are comfortable sharing and interact respectfully - without judgment.
Meetings are not recorded, and seating is limited to ensure all members can participate.
During our time together, we explore each book as it relates to us in our individual circumstances.
This study group aims to understand our adult child's perspective better, how we can repair to repair, and
perhaps gain insight into how we can move forward.
The criteria for book selection are that they are research-based, related to the continuum of family estrangement, and focus on any of the following:
· Self-Reflection, Acceptance and GrowthCommunication Style and Skills
· Relational Conflict Management
· Navigating Differences in Values, Beliefs and Politics
· Setting and Respecting Healthy Boundaries
· Repair, Reconciliation and Moving Forward
Our Book Clubs are not about quick-fix strategies and do not provide mental health services.
When people are tempted to move into blame, shame or judgment, I will guide you back into a constructive conversation forÂ
learning and growth.Â
Discussions are grounded in the When Our Adult Children Walk Away values and beliefs. Please read
through both links before registering.
We encourage people to come to our meetings with open minds and hearts. As Brene Brown says, "Vulnerability
is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change."
