Service Description
Activities will be assigned for work between weekly sessions. Description Many parents unintentionally increase distance through communication that feels corrective, defensive, or overwhelming. This workshop teaches how to communicate in ways that reduce threat and increase the likelihood of continued engagement. 5 weeks: 1 hour meetings Week 1. Family Structure & Background Please briefly describe your family structure (e.g., number of children, ages, marital status, and any significant relationships such as partners or stepfamily dynamics). Week 2. Estrangement Overview Which adult child(ren) are you experiencing conflict or distance with, and what is your current level of communication? Week 3. Recent Communication Attempts What kinds of messages or attempts have you made to communicate or repair the relationship? How were they received? Week 4. Communication Challenges What feels most difficult for you when communicating with your adult child? Week 5. Desired Change What would you most like to improve or do differently in your communication moving forward?
