Service Description
Activities will be assigned for work between weekly sessions. Description Parents often feel trapped by questions like, “How did we get here?” and “Why did this happen?” This workshop helps participants move from rumination and self-blame into a broader, more useful understanding of estrangement dynamics. The focus is not on proving who is right or who is to blame, but on understanding perceptions, decoding patterns, and possibilities for forward movement. 5 weeks: 1 hour meetings Week 1. Family Structure & Background Participants briefly describe their family structure (e.g., number of children, ages, marital status, and any significant relationships such as partners or stepfamily dynamics). Week 2. Estrangement Overview Which adult child(ren) are you experiencing distance or estrangement with, and how long has this been in place? Week 3. Your Current Understanding How do you currently make sense of what led to this estrangement? What explanations have you been holding onto? Week 4. Your Child’s Possible Perspective What do you believe your adult child might say about why this distance exists (even if you disagree)? Week 5. Clarity & Uncertainty What feels most confusing or unanswered for you right now about this situation?
